Google will soon tell if a video or text has been generated using AI, here's how

Google is set to implement a new feature called SynthID that will help identify if a video or text has been generated using AI. This technology will be expanded to watermark AI-generated text in the Gemini app and on the web. With the rise of generative AI content, it has become challenging to distinguish between human-created and AI-generated content, especially in text form.

At the I/O developer conference, Google announced the expansion of SynthID to cover text, video, and images. The technology works by embedding imperceptible watermarks directly into the text generation process. This move by Google aims to provide users with more transparency and help them make informed decisions when interacting with AI-generated content. SynthID is seen as a crucial step towards developing reliable AI identification tools.
