Global Study Finds Consumers Are Open to AI Companions BUT Are Worried About Maintaining Human Connections

A global study conducted by Momentum Worldwide reveals that consumers are open to using AI companions for connecting with others and the world, with 46% willing to engage with AI or augmented-reality companions. However, there is a significant concern among consumers about the potential loss of human connections as AI technology advances, with 70% expressing worries about this issue. Despite the technological advancements, 51% of consumers still prefer the authenticity of human customer service representatives over AI chatbots.

The study highlights that consumers value genuine connections and appreciate brands that promote authentic interactions with communities. Brands that facilitate connections are rewarded, as 75% of consumers feel a sense of belonging by connecting with fellow fans of the same brand. Moreover, 80% believe that brands encouraging consumer connections prioritize consumer wellbeing. The findings suggest that while technology can enhance connections, there is a growing desire for meaningful human interactions amidst the rise of AI.
