Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal announced that the final draft of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy will be presented to the Federal Cabinet for approval in August. He emphasized the significance of AI in the current era, stating that it is not just the future but a present reality in the world. Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the establishment of the National Center for Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and the National Task Force on Artificial Intelligence in 2023 by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.
Ahsan Iqbal expressed concerns about past inconsistencies in policies hindering development activities and the national economy's progress. He mentioned the initiation of the second phase of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the commitment from China to provide IT training to 200,000 Pakistani youth. The minister stressed the need for Pakistan to catch up with the rapid global developments in artificial intelligence to ensure revolutionary outcomes in health, education, finance, and agriculture.
