OpenAI will let businesses customise GPT-4o for specific use cases

OpenAI has unveiled a new feature that allows businesses to fine-tune their advanced AI model, GPT-4o, using their own data. This customisation enables the model to specialise in specific subject areas, enhancing its ability to provide detailed answers. Despite the growing adoption of AI technologies, many companies still struggle with generating revenue from these innovations.

Previously, OpenAI did not offer fine-tuning for its flagship models, including GPT-4, but has allowed adjustments for smaller variants like GPT-4o mini. Olivier Godement, head of product at OpenAI's API, anticipates that this new feature will encourage clients to collaborate directly with OpenAI rather than relying on third-party services. To implement this customisation, clients must upload textual data to OpenAI's servers, which typically takes one to two hours to train the model.
