Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has announced a groundbreaking initiative to deploy an AI-based radio access network (RAN) infrastructure across Indonesia. This move positions Indosat as the first operator in Southeast Asia and the third globally to implement a commercial AI-RAN network, enhancing performance and efficiency in telecommunications. The project involves collaboration with Nokia and Nvidia to develop and deploy the AI-RAN solution, starting with a 5G AI-RAN lab in Surabaya. This phased approach will include a commercial pilot in late 2025 and further expansion in 2026. By integrating AI capabilities into its network, Indosat aims to revolutionize its business model and unlock new revenue streams while supporting local AI application development across multiple industries.
