Google Pixel phones may soon shield spam calls with AI — thanks to Gemini Nano

Google is working on implementing AI technology to combat spam calls on Pixel phones. The Gemini Nano AI-powered alert system will detect scam calls in real-time and send alerts to users. The feature is not yet available with Android 15, but it is expected to roll out soon.

The code breakdown reveals a tool codenamed 'Sharpie' that is close to being ready for deployment. Pixel owners will have the ability to manually report calls, allowing the Gemini Nano AI to determine their legitimacy. The AI feature will operate on-device, enhancing efficiency and saving power.
