The UK government, through the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), has unveiled the Responsible Technology Adoption Unit (RTA) initiative aimed at enhancing the AI assurance market. This initiative includes the 'Assuring a Responsible Future for AI' report, which highlights the current state and growth potential of the UK AI assurance market, projecting a six-fold increase to over £6.5 billion in the next decade. The report identifies key challenges and outlines government interventions to stimulate market growth and improve AI governance.
The report reveals that the UK AI assurance market currently employs over 12,000 people and generates more than £1 billion in Gross Value Added (GVA). To address challenges such as limited understanding of AI risks and regulatory uncertainties, the government plans to create an AI Assurance Platform and develop essential toolkits for businesses. The initiative aims to position the UK as a leader in responsible AI development while inviting collaboration from industry stakeholders.
