A groundbreaking initiative has been launched by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) in partnership with the National Health Mission (NHM) to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into social healthcare. The Global Developer Corps (GDC) AI workforce scheme aims to equip students with AI skills while addressing significant healthcare challenges through the Kerala Palliative Care Grid. This innovative digital framework is designed to enhance home-based care for bedridden patients.
The GDC AI workforce scheme, running from 2024 to 2029, will provide students with industry-relevant skills and opportunities for internships on the Kerala Care project, offering stipends of up to Rs 27,000 per month. The initiative emphasizes the importance of merging technology with social equity, aiming to transform home healthcare by ensuring timely and compassionate care. This collaboration between KTU, NHM, and AI training partner Pupilfirst is a significant step towards improving healthcare delivery through AI.
