The compact is designed to give a voice to developing nations in shaping the rules governing digital technologies, which have been largely dictated by a few powerful countries. With a draft that includes five objectives and numerous commitments, the compact aims to bridge digital divides and enhance governance of AI. However, the process has faced criticism for being either too government-centric or not adequately inclusive of diverse stakeholder perspectives, highlighting the challenges of creating a comprehensive digital governance framework.
