This software has been used to spread disinformation about various countries, including the US, Poland, Germany, and others. A joint advisory by government agencies in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands highlighted the use of Meliorator for disseminating false information.
Meliorator offers features such as creating AI-generated social media personas in bulk, deploying typical social media content, and perpetuating false narratives to amplify malign foreign influence. The software package includes an administrator panel named 'Brigadir' and a back-end seeding tool called 'Taras.' The developers of Meliorator used Redmine for project management and connected via virtual network computing (VNC) connections.
