Nigeria's Federal Government aims to accelerate growth by leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a key tool. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, emphasized the establishment of the National Centre for AI and Robotics (NCAIR) to drive AI initiatives. This initiative aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) 2020-2030, focusing on transforming Nigeria's digital landscape.
The government is also implementing the Three Million Talent Training (3MTT) program to cultivate a skilled workforce in digital technologies. This program aims to train three million individuals, positioning Nigeria as a global hub for AI applications. Additionally, the Nigeria AI Research Scheme (NAIRS) supports local research, reflecting the country's potential in AI development.
