This model utilizes Huawei's Ascend 910B AI chip, which is reported to rival Nvidia's A100 in performance. CAIR's Executive Director noted that Huawei's chips meet the lab's research needs effectively.
In collaboration with Huawei, CAIR is advancing AI applications in surgery, especially in light of US restrictions on high-end chips. The rapid progress in Huawei's AI chip technology has significantly reduced processing times for data analysis. As a result, Huawei's chips are becoming the preferred choice for Chinese research institutions, filling the void left by Nvidia.
