Fulbright University Vietnam receives $1.5mn grant from Google for AI education

Fulbright University Vietnam has secured a $1.5 million grant from Google aimed at enhancing its artificial intelligence education. The university plans to integrate AI into all academic programs, develop new AI-related majors and minors, and equip students with essential AI application skills. This funding will also facilitate the recruitment of AI experts and bolster research initiatives in collaboration with both local and international partners.

Google's chief scientist, Jeff Dean, emphasized the potential of Vietnam's young talent in technology, particularly in AI. He encouraged local universities to expand AI study opportunities and integrate innovative learning methods into their curricula. Additionally, Google is collaborating with the Vietnam National Innovation Center on initiatives like Google AI Essentials and the Google for Startups Accelerator SEA Vietnam, which aim to enhance the local workforce's AI skills and support generative AI development among startups.
