FG, partners upskills 400 Nigerians on AI, Cybersecurity

The Federal Government, alongside the World Bank and a consortium of tech firms, has trained 400 Nigerians in AI and Cybersecurity. This initiative, part of the TechUnlock project, aims to enhance digital literacy among Nigerian youths and was officially launched in January 2024. The program is designed to reach marginalized communities, providing free access to expensive tech courses.

The first cohort of the TechUnlock Boot Camp achieved a remarkable 95 percent pass rate in certification exams, demonstrating the program's effectiveness. A second batch of trainees is currently completing their projects, with plans to expand the initiative to 1,000 participants next year. This effort not only focuses on skill development but also includes internships and job placement assistance, ensuring participants are well-prepared for the job market.
