Cyber security and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) are set to dominate enterprise IT investment plans for 2025, as revealed by Informa TechTargets Enterprise Strategy Group's annual spending intentions research. The study, which surveyed 1,351 IT and business professionals globally, indicates that cyber security initiatives will see the most significant spending increases, followed closely by advancements in customer experience and application development. Notably, around 75% of respondents from EMEA and North America plan to boost their IT investments compared to 2024.
The research highlights a growing trend where GenAI is increasingly applied to enhance cyber security measures, particularly in data management. With 53% of organizations planning to invest in GenAI technologies in 2025, this reflects a broader shift towards automation and efficiency across IT and business environments. The focus on strengthening cyber security tools, including zero-trust network access and multifactor authentication, underscores the critical need for robust defenses against cyber threats.
