Austin ranks No. 6 for AI job displacement risk, new study says

A new study conducted by (un)Common Logic ranks Austin as the sixth-highest city in the U.S. for artificial intelligence (AI) job displacement, with over 10% of workers in Austin at risk of AI-related automation. This amounts to roughly 126,000 workers in the Austin area. The study highlights that jobs such as budget analysts, loan officers, accountants, insurance sales agents, and paralegals face the highest risk of being replaced by AI.

The study points out that these at-risk jobs have tasks and knowledge that can be easily learned and replicated by AI systems, making them susceptible to automation. On the other hand, professions like dancers, firefighters, and plumbers, which are more hands-on, face low AI exposure and low risk of automation. The impact of AI is predicted to be greater on high-income workers, with certain states having a higher vulnerability to AI-related automation.
