Artificial Intelligence is coming to South Carolina state government. Here's the goals and concerns

The state of South Carolina is formally stepping into the artificial intelligence era with the Department of Administration finalizing a policy framework for AI implementation. The 17-page document outlines the state's strategy to responsibly harness AI's power for greater prosperity. The plan includes goals like safe citizen service delivery and exploring AI applications in workforce training and economic development.

Developed in collaboration with Gartner, the plan emphasizes fairness, transparency, and citizen benefit in AI deployment. It also aims to track AI usage across government functions for cost savings and improved service delivery. While some state agencies already use AI to a limited extent, a broader rollout will involve a Center of Excellence and an AI Advisory Group for informed decision-making.
