Algoma University student Muhammad Hassan Jamil won a gold medal at an artificial intelligence camp and competition in Stuttgart, Germany. Students from 7 universities pitched business ideas that use artificial intelligence. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ont, university was the only Canadian institution to take part.

Jamil's winning idea was to develop an AI-powered program to help people improve their sleep. The program would utilize a wrist-band device to gather vital signs and create ideal sleep conditions using internet-connected devices. Algoma University also earned a bronze medal in the same competition.
