AI goes mainstream as 'AI PCs' hit the market

Tech companies are introducing a new line of PCs designed to run artificial intelligence programs, aiming for wider adoption of AI technology. Microsoft unveiled AI-powered personal computers under the Copilot Plus brand, featuring a neural processing unit chip for enhanced capabilities like photo editing and live transcription. HP and ASUS are among the hardware makers producing these AI PCs, powered by Qualcomm's SnapDragon X Elite and Plus processors.

The AI PCs promise to provide AI capabilities directly on devices without relying on the cloud, offering features like live transcription and translation. Microsoft forecasts selling over 50 million AI PCs within a year, tapping into the growing demand for AI-powered technologies. While some industry experts remain cautious about the immediate benefits of upgrading to AI laptops, tech giants like Google and Apple are also entering the AI market with their own on-device AI capabilities.
