Energy sector remains the top sector for VC funding in Europe, with generative AI representing 10% of the continent's VC funding so far in 2024. The surge in European tech investment in the first half of 2024 signals a potential recovery for the ecosystem after facing challenges in the previous year.

The report highlights that energy companies have raised $5.6bn this year, with hydrogen firms like HysetCo securing significant investments for decarbonizing urban transport. Generative AI sector also experienced a boost, accounting for $2.6bn in funding. Notable investments include autonomous driving start-up Wayve raising $1.1bn in a Series C round, showcasing the growth in AI funding in Europe.
