The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is implementing AI technology to reduce water leakages and improve water distribution in the 24x7 water supply project in Manimajra. The project aims to save water, enhance efficiency, and maintain water pressure by utilizing remote terminal units (RTU) with micro-chips in pressure transmitters.
With 45% of supplied water currently lost or unaccounted for, the corporation plans to bring it down to at least 15% using AI technology. The consumption of water in Manimajra is expected to reduce from 8 MGD to 6.5 MGD in the future, benefiting around 1.8 lakh people. By plugging leakages and thefts, the project aims to save 1.5 MGD water in Manimajra.
