The system uses images taken with a standard smartphone to estimate the number of flowers on a tree accurately, improving efficiency and profitability in crop yields.
Tested on peach orchards in Catalonia, Spain, the AI system predicted flower counts with 90% accuracy, a significant improvement over manual methods used by farmers. By providing precise yield forecasts up to six months before harvest, the system can help optimize water use, allocate resources efficiently, and plan harvesting logistics better.
