Exploring the Intersection of AI, Semiconductors and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)

A new study has revealed how AI can perpetuate deeply ingrained stereotypes, impacting recruitment, pay equity, and career aspirations. The study found that AI-generated images of people in specific job roles often reflected damaging stereotypes, such as exclusively male results for certain professions and exclusively white, middle-aged men for CEOs.

The study conducted by Rippl, an employee rewards, recognition, and benefits platform, highlighted how AI biases extend beyond gender to race and age. For example, manufacturing workers were generated solely as young men of color, while housekeepers were all young women. The CEO of Rippl emphasized the importance of setting up AI correctly and training teams to mitigate bias in the workplace.
