Can AI Reduce Bias or Perpetuate it?

India-based IT consultancy and system integrator Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a generative AI aggregation platform for enterprise customers and a new IoT lab in the US, with a stated remit to support sensor deployments feeding into developing industrial AI projects. The firm conducted a major poll of global billion-dollar companies in 12 industries, revealing that four in five are already utilizing AI to enhance productivity. TCS noted a shift in the enterprise market towards earnest adoption of AI after a period of exuberance.

The poll results indicated that 86 percent of companies have deployed AI to enhance revenue streams or create new ones, with a focus on innovation and revenue growth rather than just productivity improvement. However, only four percent have fully transformed their business with AI, while 24 percent remain in the exploratory phase. The survey highlighted challenges such as infrastructure limitations, measurement difficulties, and the lack of appropriate AI metrics.
