The degree will prepare students how to navigate both the challenges and the opportunities "in the age of AI," the dean of the College of IST said.

Accordingly, leading Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University, Wuhan University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have announced plans to expand their enrollments in AI and related interdisciplinary fields to meet growing demands.

"It's not just about programming and building tools, but even those who have no knowledge about computer science or coding, they can join this program because also, we have a bridge for them."

Tsinghua University, one of China's top schools, recently announced it will increase its undergraduate admissions by about 150 students this year and establish a new undergraduate college for general AI education. The students will enroll in the new program, which aims to integrate AI across multiple disciplines.
