Nvidia Corp is developing a new AI chip for the Chinese market to comply with U.S. export controls. The chip, tentatively named B20, is part of the Blackwell series introduced by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at a conference in San Jose. The B200 chip in the series is reported to be 30 times faster than its predecessor for AI applications like chatbots and search engines.
The partnership between Nvidia and Jinan-based Inspur Group will lead to the launch and distribution of the new chip in Q2 of 2025. Nvidia has previously created chips like the H20 microprocessor specifically for the Chinese market to avoid violating U.S. export controls. The stock price of Nvidia surged following the announcement of the new chip development.
