MCIT announces participation of four data providers in Arabic GenAI project

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) revealed the involvement of four key institutions in the Arabic Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) project 'Fanar'. These institutions include the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Qatar National Library, Al Jazeera, and the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. The collaboration aims to contribute high-quality data to the Arabic GenAI model, Fanar, with a target of 300 billion words.

The announcement was made during a meeting attended by government and academic representatives, showcasing a concerted effort to enhance AI solutions in Arabic. The data providers will help build a comprehensive Arabic content database for applications like machine translation and voice recognition. This initiative signifies a significant advancement in empowering Arabic GenAI and elevating the Arabic language globally.
